Johnson strengthens MVP lead following Hobart Test
Following his magnificent form last season, Mitchell Johnson holds a steady lead in the overall International MVP. Johnson is 129.41 points clear of second ranked, Shane Watson following Australia’s Test win over Pakistan in Hobart.
Johnson is placed within the top three of all International MVP rankings and with the Commonwealth Bank One Day International series about to begin is sure to remain in a strong position.
Johnson is to be rested from the first two ODI matches against Pakistan beginning on 22 January. This gives Shane Watson the opportunity to increase his overall ODI MVP lead to which he currently holds by 89.67 points.
Young Victorian pace bowler, John Hastings is dominating the Interstate MVP, leading both the overall and Interstate rankings.
Hastings with 267.05 tops the Overall Interstate points table with a close lead over inform Queensland skipper Chris Simpson on 261.28 and fellow Victorian Brad Hodge on 230.23 points.
Hastings (139.39) has a narrow lead of just 0.11 points over teammate Chris Rogers (139.28) in the Sheffield Shield rankings, with South Australia’s Peter George holding third position on 137.94 points.
George Bailey holds the Ford Ranger Cup MVP rankings lead but with John Hastings and Chris Simpson on his tail.
With the International imports leading from the front in the KFC Big Bash competition, it was the ‘locals’ who have come out on top in the MVP rankings. Queensland’s James Hopes has finished as the leading MVP points winner for the competition with 75.84 points. Pakistan’s Rana Naved, who was ahead until Queensland’s final game before the finals against Western Australia last Sunday, finished in second spot with 69.20 points and Chris Simpson in third place with 64.62 MVP points.
